This listed grade IIvilla was completed in 1849 from the 1846 designs of Amon. H. Wilds, and is the last late regency italianate villa in the centre of Brighton. It was built on land previously owned by Thomas Read-Kemp's solicitor Henry Faithful, for Henry Smithers owner of the North Street Brewery.While at the hall he was the sixth mayor of Brighton, and is commemorated by a plaque in St. Nicholas church. The Clark family moved in afterwards and are buried in St Andrews churchyard, commemorated by an obelisk.
