"There is nothing which has been contrived by man by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern or inn" thus wrote Dr Johnson. Although the Skelwith Bridge has been carefully and sympathetically developed and extended, there still remains the charm and atmosphere of the 17th century hostelry with it??s mellowed oak beamed ceilings and many period features. The hotel now operates a no smoking policy throughout.
