The Edward Hotel in Gloucester sits in a Victorian, townhouse terrace and faces London Road, once the final part of the Roman Ermin St. The Edward is the only privately run hotel with parking in the city centre. Our guests are our reputation so we welcome you with pleasure, look after you as family and part as friends. Our hotel location is a bonus - the city is a short stroll of around 10 minutes so we are out of earshot of the city nightlife. Our bar closes at a civilised time and we do not hold functions.
Services
Eating In
Report
We offer a traditional full English breakfast service combining convenience of buffet style drinks and cereals etc with the personal touch of a cooked breakfast and toast prepared to order. We generally have dairy free milk alternatives, gluten free sausages and bread available, along with vegetarian and vegan sausages.
Bar and Lounge
Report
We have an informal bar at the Edward Hotel which is ideal for a quiet drink before and/or after an evening in the city. We do not stay open late nor do we have any functions or loud music. We promote ourselves as a quiet hotel and are up front about not being suitable for individuals or groups who want to party into the night.
Gloucester Gallery
Report
Throughout the hotel corridors are photos and information displays about historic buildings, events, festivals, and people important to Gloucester. The gallery has sections upon Roman, Medieval, and Victorian, periods. There is an extensive section upon the Docks and the history of the development of the river, as well as the locks and dry docks that are still in use today.
The conundrum
Report
There is a conundrum at the hotel that most guests discover at breakfast time. There are two parts. Some guests crack part on within seconds others have stayed for many days and left asking not to be told the answer because they want crack it at home. Part two is more difficult and you will not get any help with this.
