Only reviewing Garden Room. Last time the owners didn't even bother to reply, so we didn't come for 2 years. Decided to come again for my Birthday, I am vegan and gluten-free and noticed a new Vegetarian and Plant Based menu. Unfortunately I can only choose salad and curry, all the rest was not suitable given my special diet. But there so much could be done for my diet which require only small changes and don't cost the earth.
I am sorry but lettuce and half of avocado is not exactly a very imaginative dish. My husband had veal, which was quite butter (fried in recycled oil) and gave him indigestion. The banana sorbet and trifle was good. Ask me how to improve your special diets section, will be happy to help! The service was a little disappointing, as stuff didn't seem to care or bother, maybe inadequate training, I don't know.

We were so surprised by the beauty and convenience of The George Hotel. Such a Gem! Pros -Service was impeccable -Hotel grounds are beautiful -Free Parking available -Rooms are up to date (considering it's an older and authentic building) -Bathrooms were very comfortable (I'm a bit bougie) -Breakfast is delivered -Location to shops, restaurants, and parks are all in easy walking distance -aircon since it was actually pretty warm Cons (which aren't bad at all but want to be honest) -No elevator (but easy to walk up stairs with luggage and staff are willing help) -There is a dress code on premise (to be honest they don't turn anyone away but place them somewhere else and not in the fancy room) With stating the cons I recognize I'm still defending the hotel because we enjoyed out stay so much! Completely worth it!

Absolutely stunning rooms, good service and lovely location. I don't know if it's cost worthy though as I was lucky enough to not pay the bill! But our was just incredible really, great bed, big bathroom with a stunning bath. Lovely outside area, very nice!

Just the nicest setting to while away the afternoon. Beautiful setting with a lovely open fire, friendly and helpful staff. A great choice of drinks on the menu. We felt very spoilt, definitely recommend.

Afternoon cream tea for two, Mmmm. Excellent location, beautiful setting both inside and out. Made to feel very welcome and fantastic friendly service. We chose the cream tea for two, which is 29pp and may sound expensive. But, every single item was fresh, very tasty and very filling. Plus (as we don't drink tea) the perculated coffee refills were not only needed but a nice addition for no extra cost. Many, many afternoon teas are cheaper but when your paying 3 or 4 pound for one cup of coffee and may want 3 during the food it can become very expensive. This was lovely, no complaints whatsoever and a nice treat once in a while, highly recommended.

We stayed at The George on Sunday 30th January as our Christmas present to each other we expected it to be a wonderful experience but that's not what we received, we struggled to get a drink with one bar shut and a very rude bartender so went in the other bar to be told there wasn't a table for us to sit at. Eventually a waitress told us to sit in the lounge and would bring drinks which took 30 minutes.
We ate in the Oak room and whilst the food although very over priced was good the service really let it down it wasn't busy but we were rushed through our meal's and waiting not upto to standard. Also on checking the bill we've been over charged on four items coming to an extra 30 will definitely not be returning and won't recommend to anyone. On speaking to other people we are not the only one's to have had the same problem very disappointed.

The lovely lady who greeted us today at this establishment was absolutely top class, cheerful, professional and friendly. We arrived early for our afternoon tea and were so well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble here. The food and drink here is quality. I can't wait to visit again soon! Definitely reccomend.
