From the very moment you arrive, we hope you will pick up on the relaxed atmosphere that pervades the whole site, and it's no accident that you are greeted with a very informal and welcoming open-plan reception area, with an abundance of comfy chairs. Adjacent to this is the Library snug area, which on cooler days and evenings, has a rip-roaring fire to snuggle up in front of whilst reading, or perhaps savouring a post-dinner Cognac!

Our individually designed bedrooms are supremely comfortable, each having their own charm and character. Beautiful fabrics and elegant furniture invite you in to a world far removed from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Whether you prefer a Bedroom, Suite, Lodge Suite or one of our grand State Rooms, we have endeavoured to think of your every need and comfort at The Lake Country House.
Hotel History
Report
The house itself is an architectural bagatelle, begun in 1840 and remodelled in 1900. The half-timbering epitomises mock-Tudor, yet the verandas and French windows give it a colonial air. Built originally as a Hunting and Fishing Lodge, the hotel has a rich history; from the turn of the twentieth century until World War II, it was the only barium spa resort outside of Germany.
