About
Report
Craigsanquhar has been owned by the McClendon Family since 1999 when it was changed from a private home to a luxury hotel, restaurant, and wedding venue. In 2011, the family welcomed Jason Herkes to the family and to the business. With him came a wealth of knowledge in the Scottish shooting world thanks to his days as a young lad beating on some of Scotland's most prestigious sporting estates. He also took great interest in field trialing dogs having great success with his English Springer "Hill Billy Jimmy" at just 15 years of age.
Shoot Package
Report
For several centuries, driven shooting has been the hallmark pastime of the British gentry. Over the last several decades, the Scottish shooting experience has matured to amalgamate quality shooting with exceptional hospitality in the midst of stunning landscapes. At Craigsanquhar Estate you will experience the very essence of Scotland and its heritage.
Game Birds
Report
The pheasant is Scotland's most familiar gamebird and is the hallmark of driven shooting. Although not indigenous to Britain, it has inhabited Scotland for almost 1,000 years likely arriving with the hare and rabbits accompanying the Roman legions. In Scotland they are usually found in woodland, hedgerows, and open farmland with proper cover.
Etiquette
Report
Traditional driven shooting attire of tweeds, wools, and earthen colors are expected, and you should avoid bright colors that will flare the birds. Blaze orange and camouflage are discouraged. The shooting world is becoming more and more open to different styles, but a shirt and tie are always proper.
