A warm welcome to Lochboisdale Hotel on the beautiful island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Calum, Karen MacAulay and their family run the hotel, situated at the ferry terminal in Lochboisdale overlooking the bay with splendid views across to Canna and Rhum. Built in the late 1800's the hotel is full of character and has a homely atmosphere. We have 15 rooms, 5 single, 5 twin and 4 double including one family room that will comfortably sleep a family of 5 and 1 premier kingsize room ideal for honeymooners.

Our Story

Lochboisdale is situated on a deeply indented sea loch of the same name on the south east of South Uist. It is a small port with car ferry connections to the mainland and Barra. The hotel was commissioned by Lady Gordon Cathcart the estate owner in 1880 as a fishing hotel and it is still full of charm and tradition.

We have a sunlounge overlooking the harbour, the bay and hills. We have a bar supper menu and an A La Carte menu offering the best of local produce, seafood and game. Lobster is available on request and you can even pick your own off the boats in the bay.
