Just popped in for a beer. Was going to have a meal but pets not allowed inside. Bit confusing as says Pet Friendly. Word of caution!

I have been to Islay many times and would say that I love the place. On a family trip to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday we chose to have a celebration dinner at the Port Charlotte. Big mistake. Their idea of an appropriate setting for this was to cram 12 of us into a corner of the bar where the service was problematic because of how busy it was. If I had wanted a casual pub dinner it would have been perfect. In future, I will choose a place where they understand a sense of occasion. Very disappointed and feel stung at how expensive it was for something ordinary at best.

We have visited The Port Charlotte Hotel during our holiday for drinks on a few occasions and once for dinner. We have thoroughly enjoyed it each time! The restaurant had fantastic service and gorgeous views of the beach. The meals we're well priced and well portioned. I would thoroughly recommend and am excited to return!
