When the UK, and in particular Lancashire was a dominant force in cotton manufacture, Adam Dugdale, a wealthy cotton mill owner, built Rosehill House in Burnley in 1856. The mansion would have provided a luxury setting overlooking the valley in which Burnley is located. The mansion went through several changes of ownership, including the mayor of Burnley and also the home guard during the Second World War.

Dugdales restaurant retains many of its original period features, with its hand painted gold leaf ceilings and extravagant fireplaces. The atmosphere in Dugdales is a little formal, but is still a long way from a stifled fine dining experience. We would like to think that the service is friendly and attentive but in no way obtrusive.

Rosehill House Hotel is situated only half a mile south of Burnley town centre, just off the A682, easily accessible via the M66, M62 and M65. Alternatively, trains from the central station in Burnley connect with mainline services at Manchester and Preston. The hotel is ideally located for touring the Trough of Bowland, Ribble Valley and Bronte Country.
