Appalling customer service. I booked using a red letter day voucher, and they redeemed the voucher taking the money (RLD confirmed this) then the pandemic hit and they said don't worry your booking is on hold. Then when I try to re book they said I can't because the voucher has expired. What? When I explained they had taken the money they basically called me a liar! I had to get a refund through red letter days who were fantastic.
Don't think I'll be going near this place thanks. Edit: The booking was under my partners name, and I find the hotels response to be extremely condescending. I have already spoken to them via my partners email and they made it very clear what their position was. To try and say they will look into it just because I've posted a public review is nonsense. You can't defend the indefensible guys! I'm posting a public review because attempts to solve it privately ended terribly.

Highly recommend this outstanding hotel with a very polite and friendly staff. On site restaurant was exceptional with our meal and breakfast served at a very high standard. The bedroom was very very clean and spotless and without doubt will be staying again on our next visit to Southend

Our family had Mum's wake last weekend and some of us stayed a couple of nights. Every single member of staff made a very sad time a beautiful occasion. They were so attentive and put my mind at ease and went above and beyond to create a lovely stress free day for us in gorgeous surroundings. The food was amazing too. Special thanks to Danielle, Laura, Abbie who made us very welcome. Also the new girl who started two weeks ago was lovely. Hope to come back in happier times

A very friendly place to stay and great value for money. The room I had was perfect for my needs. The breakfast was excellent too, perfect poached eggs - a real bonus. There is free off street parking at the rear of the hotel.
