First time here, very impressed with this hotel, the staff are excellent and the evening meal menu is wonderful. It has a superb view across the estuary and the beach is just across the road. I would recommend it to anyone.

Very well maintained gardens, tasteful front of house, friendly, helpful staff, spacious rooms which are very clean, great views ( if choosing a sea view) lovely breakfast in a restaurant setting. Stayed in some of Devon's supposedly prestigious luxury hotels which could learn something from the Commodore

Made to feel welcome and your custom valued. Nothing is too much trouble for any member of staff. Must mention Liz on reception and Jane in the restaurant, who made our stay most memorable. Thank you The Commodore.

If you cannot travel to the South of France then visit The Commodore Hotel. While you relax and enjoy the wonderful food (I had the Chicken and Mash so much meat very tasty) look out across the mouth of the river Torridge towards The little fishing village of Appledore. Enjoy a drink and take the time to watch the tide change as the distant cottages start to light up in the evening. This Hotel is family owned and run, the owners and staff are friendly helpful and knowledgeable of the area. You will find like me dreams of distant lands
