Our prime location in Malham offers direct access to the Pennine Way, Malham Cove, and other iconic landscapes, making us an ideal base for walkers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts. We pride ourselves on serving locally sourced Yorkshire Dales breakfasts, including eggs from our own chickens, and catering to dietary requirements with care.The property's rich history dates back to 1664, with Victorian additions and a legacy of hosting guests through generations. Our facilities include secure bike storage, free parking, a licensed bar with wood-burning stove, and a snug filled with walking guides. We offer double, twin, and super-king zip-and-link rooms, all en-suite with modern amenities. No family rooms available, maximum 2 guests per room.
Does River House provide breakfast options?
Yes, we serve a full Yorkshire Dales breakfast cooked to order using local ingredients, including eggs from our chickens, with dietary alternatives available.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in available between 4pm-9pm, with flexible arrangements outside these hours. Check-out required by 10:30am daily.
Are there discounts for longer stays?
Yes - 5% discount per night for 3-4 nights, 10% discount for 5+ nights. Discounts applied automatically during online booking.
What facilities are available for cyclists?

Can I cancel my booking?
Cancellations require 7 days' notice for standard bookings. Group bookings (3+ rooms) need 14 days' notice. Full payment charged for late cancellations.

Had a couple of days spent at Matlham in River House B/ B. Alex an Ann were fantastic hosts. The room was very clean.tea and coffee on hand and homemade biscuits to, delicious. We will be going back again. Beautiful area for lots of walks to.

Beautiful House in a stunning location. Room was warm and comfy. Breakfast amazing. Tea, Coffee and homemade treats everyday. Anne and Alex couldn't do enough. Definitely the best around. Didn't use the lounge/bar but it looked very welcoming after a day walking. Chickens are friendly and produced lovely eggs. Hoping too visit again next year.

Lovely stay at River House, Malham. The breakfasts were amazing, so much choice and so well run. In our rooms we had tea and fresh coffee with cafetiere and fresh milk which was so nice first thing! Plus, each day, little home-made treats were left for us for afternoon tea, was perfect.

Thank you Ann and Alex for making our two night stay perfect. After the "big stay in" it was so nice to get away, we are so glad we chose this B&B. Clean and comfortable, a friendly welcome and amazing breakfasts! This place is perfect as the start of one of our walk starts opposite the B&B. We would recommend this place as a perfect stop, oh and theres a pub next door that sells good food.
